12 June 2025

Excitement is already building in the Loire region. With just over two months to go before the start, a joint press conference was held this Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Saint-Galmier town hall to present two cycling events: the finish of the first stage of the 2025 Tour de l’Avenir in Saint-Galmier and the start of the second stage from Saint-Symphorien-sur-Coise.

In a fine example of regional collaboration, the two municipalities, both recognized as “The 100 Most Beautiful Detours in France,” decided to organize a joint conference. A powerful way to showcase their complementary skills and shared ambitions for cycling.

Alongside the two mayors, Philippe Denis for Saint-Galmier and Jérôme Banino for Saint-Symphorien-sur-Coise, numerous figures from the world of cycling and sport were present. Jacques Dumortier, a member of the organization, vice-president of the FFC Regional Cycling Committee and a key figure in Loire cycling, emphasized the strategic importance of the Loire in the development of youth cycling.
At his side, Jean-Yves Bonnefoy, vice-president of the Department of Sports, unveiled a special youth initiative organized by the Loire Department: on August 24, around thirty young people will have the unique opportunity to ride the final 30 kilometers of the stage leading to Saint-Galmier, like the elite.

The event was also honored by the presence of Bernard HINAULT, five-time winner of the Tour de France and ambassador of the event, as well as Bernard VALLET, former professional rider, winner of the mountain classification in the 1982 Tour de France, now a consultant and loyal supporter of the race.

Both praised the involvement of local authorities in transmitting the values of cycling.

Event director Philippe Colliou expressed his enthusiasm for the quality of the route and the promising welcome from the host towns.

Also notable was the presence of Roland Romeyer, former president of AS Saint-Étienne, and Jean-Christophe Rattel, general manager of Ekoï, official supplier of the Tour de l’Avenir, accompanied by Céline Vandenbroucke, the brand’s public relations manager.

Between heritage, local dynamism, and a passion for cycling, the Loire is preparing to experience a summer to the rhythm of cycling, where youth, the region, and sport will unite as one.

Join us on August 24 and 25 for two days that promise to be as sporty as they are festive.
