Route changes : a two-stage finale for the 2025 Tour de l’Avenir
15 July 2025

A-VELO, organizer of the Tour de l’Avenir, announces a major change to the program for the final day of racing, Friday, August 29, 2025.
Initially planned as a single road stage, this final day will now consist of two separate half-stages, offering a spectacular mountain finale.
This format change was developed in consultation with the Italian authorities, in a spirit of strong cross-border cooperation between the French and Italian authorities, to ensure optimal organization—particularly regarding road use—and a route that meets the sporting challenges of the event.

In the morning, a compact stage, starting and finishing in La Rosière, focused on two challenges—the ascent of Colle San Carlo, followed by the climb of Petit Saint-Bernard—before finishing in the majestic setting of the Golf de la Rosière. In the afternoon, the final stage will take place in the form of an individual time trial between Montvalezan and the La Rosière resort.

Friday, August 29, the two final half-stages :
Morning: Stages 6A (Men) and 5A (Women)

• Route: La Rosière Espace San Bernardo (France) → La Rosière Espace San Bernardo (France)
• Distance: 41,6 km
• Elevation gain: 2 311m D+, very demanding with a series of passes
Details:
• Fictitious start at La Rosière – Espace San Bernardo (France), neutralized descent towards Pré Saint-Didier. Actual start in Morgex (Italy – 925m altitude)
• Ascent of Colle San Carlo (10,3 km at 10 %) – classified as HC
• Descent to La Thuile then climb to the Col du Petit-Saint-Bernard (13,2 km at 5.6 %) – classified as Category 1
• Finale in La Rosière – Espace San Bernardo, with the short climb of Le Golf (2,1 km at 6,8 %) – classified as Category 3

Afternoon: Stages 5B (Women) and 6B (Men)
• Route: Montvalezan → La Rosière (Resort Center)
• Distance: 7,2 km
• Type: Individual Time Trial
• Profile: Steady ascent to the center of the resort, with irregular gradients providing ideal terrain for explosive climbers and powerful rouleurs.

This final uphill time trial, unprecedented in the recent history of the Tour de l’Avenir, will add an extra dose of suspense to the awarding of the yellow jersey and other distinctive classifications.
